Black Light Tattoos - Color Changing Ink
What is it?
It's a special tattoo ink that only glows under ultraviolet light. The special ink for black light tattoos contains chemicals that absorb the high energy UV rays for a few nanoseconds. Then the chemicals release the energy and the tattoo glows! There are many different colors of black light or UV reactive ink. For the titanium white color, in the absence of UV light, the tattoo can be completely transparent on light skin tones. Other colors are visible in any light but glow in black light!
Is it...Dangerous?
The most popular brand of UV reactive Tattoo Ink, Chameleon Ink, was thoroughly tested and cleared by the FDA in 1995. It was developed to use for tracking animals, but it is completely safe for humans. Hundreds of thousands of people have had black light tattoos inked, and there have been no reported side effects.

Where Can I Get it Done?
This tattoo ink is widely available and you can probably get it done at your local studio. Probably, you'd want to call first to make sure it was available, but be careful. Black light tattoo ink does is not absorbed by the skin the same way conventional inks are. They do not blend the same predictable way other inks do. For this reason, you should only get inked by an experienced tattoo artist with experience in black light tattoos. It may cost you a little more in the short term, but it will definitely be worth it in the long term. Go get inked and send us a picture of your new tattoo!
