Magic Charm and Mischief

What makes a Fairy Tattoo Design different?

It's all in the wings, of course! Just kidding. There are as many different fairy types as there are stars in the sky. Tinkerbell and the Tooth Fairy get about eighty percent of the fame associated with fairies. However, fairies can come in all different sizes and shapes. Most often they are depicted as a young female with wings and magical powers - usually about the size of a small bird. The wings make the fairy, some of them don't have any, but most have insect wings, angel wings, devil wings or strange leafy wings.

Where did the idea of Fairies come from?

Fairy folklore is common to almost every culture one way or another. The most common types of fairy-esque mythical creatures are pixies, sprites, gnomes and leprechauns. The word fairy comes from an old French word that basically meant the personification of destiny. The older myths of fairies told stories of a being that would come to visit each child on their 3rd day of life. It would look at the child and then decide its destiny. Most people don't know that little tidbit when they get a fairy inked on their arm. Anyway, these days, fairy tattoos represent different things.

Why should I get one inked?

Pretty much, if you're female it's THE thing to do these days. Fairy tattoos symbolize eternal youth, freedom, harmony with nature, beauty and mischief. Yeah, mischief. Don't cross a fairy on a bad day. A new school fairy (Tinkerbell or the like) would just probably turn you into a frog or zap you someway, but old-school fairies would basically just kill you. Anyway, get some ink and send us a picture, we'll put it in our fairy tattoo picture gallery.
